Does Hmart Accept WIC

Hmart, a popular Asian supermarket chain, does not directly participate in the WIC program. The WIC program, or Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, is a federally funded program that provides nutritional assistance to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants, and children under age five. Hmart customers who receive WIC benefits can use their vouchers to purchase eligible WIC items at other participating retailers that accept WIC, such as grocery stores and convenience stores.

WIC Program Overview

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a federal nutrition program that provides supplemental foods, nutrition education, and breastfeeding support to low-income pregnant women, new mothers, and children under 5. WIC is available in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa.

To be eligible for WIC, you must meet income guidelines and live in an area where WIC is offered. You also must be:

  • Pregnant
  • Breastfeeding
  • A new mother
  • A child under 5

If you are eligible for WIC, you will receive a WIC card that you can use to purchase WIC-approved foods at authorized grocery stores. WIC-approved foods include milk, cheese, eggs, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and infant formula.
